إن ثراء جزيرة ناكسوس بالمياه يبدو جليا من خلال العدد غير المحدود من الآبار والينابيع التي تظهر في القرى والريف، والذي يمكن رؤية الكثير منها داخل ساحات وحدائق المنازل أو في البساتين. كما يمكن العثور عليها في أماكن التجمعات الاجتماعية، مثل الميدان المركزي للقرية أو ملحقة بالمباني العامة الهامة مثل الكنائس.

في دراسة الحالة هذه هناك بعض الآليات المثيرة لاهتمام القراء المهتمين وزائري للجزيرة والتي طورها  السكان المحليون من أجل سحب المياه من الآبار، وأيضا بعض الينابيع التي  توجد في العاصمة و في جميع أنحاء قرى ناكسوس.
